To strengthen our sector engagement capability and support the growth of our modular offerings, we’re looking for a Proposals Engineer to generate cost estimates and proposals from a set of requirements, specifications and convert the tender submissions to projects for the execution team.
The Proposal Engineer (Capital Cost) is responsible for developing and reviewing contract bid requirements in alignment with client specifications, project objectives and standard ProProcess equipment.
Where bespoke equipment solutions are required, the Proposal Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the custom design process, from initial process and conceptual design development through to tender submission.
The role involves compiling and coordinating supporting documentation to enhance proposal competitiveness, as well as evaluating project costs and timelines. In addition, the Proposal Engineer assesses and identifies factors that may positively or negatively impact project scope, cost, schedule, and overall proposal viability.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Capital Cost Generation (40%)
- Review client scope, technical and specification documentation.
- Consults with suppliers to discuss and formulate compelling concepts for custom solutions.
- Engauge with vendors to effect cost reduction, clarify technical specification and resolve issues.
- Generate cost registers according to company standards.
- Populate technical and commercial proposals with correct and relative information.
- Ensure proposals are accurate and presentable to clients.
- Planning – ensure proposals are submitted to the sales team timeously.
- Arrange cost review meetings with Manager and Sales team.
- Engineering and decision making.
- Identify possible opportunities for application of standard ProProcess equipment range.
- Keep the CRM and Sprints board database current.
- Save all relevant estimation documents/files in correct OneDrive folders.
- Generate handover tracking register and documentation on purchase order receive.
- Support Capital Cost Engineering manager with new concept designs for plant optimization and standardization.
- Understand and keep standard equipment range and pricing up to date.
- Achieve tender/proposal to purchase order conversion rate without compromising project quality or profitability.

Job requirements:
- National Diploma / B Tech / B Eng / BSc Eng (Metallurgical, Mechanical and Process) or similar
- Experience with project estimation within an EPC/EPCM environment, focusing on process engineering projects (mechanical, electrical, chemical disciplines)
- Experience with FEED studies and Man-hour estimates
- Experience with conceptual development projects with parameter guidelines covering items such as tanks, pumps, powder handling, storage vessels, instrumentation and controls, structural steel, process piping covering small and large bore equipment and big and small ore sizes.
